Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how JLGNZ Ltd, trading as BeefHQ ("BeefHQ", "we", "us"), collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information when you use the BeefHQ app. We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles.

1. Who we are

JLGNZ Ltd, trading as BeefHQ, Auckland, New Zealand. We are the "agency" responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following information from you:

  • Account information: your name and email address, provided when you sign up.
  • Farm information: farm names, regions, paddock names and boundaries, and map coordinates you enter or draw.
  • Livestock and farm records: mobs, head counts, weights, breeds, livestock classes, health and animal treatment records, breeding records, feed plans, inventory, and tasks.
  • Financial records: stock sales, purchases, natural increase, deaths, and the values you enter for them.
  • Health & safety records: safety plans, hazard registers, inductions and sign-on records, including the names of workers and visitors you record.
  • Worker information: email addresses and names of people you invite to your farm.
  • Preferences and settings: your region, preferred livestock grade, financial year settings and notification preferences.
  • Device information: push notification tokens, if you enable notifications.
  • Feedback: anything you send us through the in-app feedback form.

We do not collect or store your credit card or bank details. All payments are handled by Stripe (see section 5).

3. Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • Create and operate your account and provide the app's features.
  • Store and display your farm, livestock and financial records back to you.
  • Generate reports, tax summaries and compliance documents you request.
  • Send you notifications you have opted into, such as price alerts and stock shift reminders.
  • Manage your subscription and billing.
  • Respond to your feedback and provide support.
  • Diagnose faults and improve the app.

Providing this information is voluntary, but without it we cannot provide the app. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your farm data for advertising.

4. Information about other people

If you record information about your workers, contractors or farm visitors (for example, induction sign-ons or task assignments), you are responsible for making sure those people know their information is being recorded in BeefHQ and why. We process that information on your behalf.

5. Third parties we share information with

We share information only as needed to run the app:

  • Base44 — our app hosting, database and authentication provider. Your account and farm data are stored on their infrastructure.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments. Stripe receives your email address and payment details directly; we receive only your subscription status and billing dates.
  • AI and market data providers — used to generate schedule forecasts. We send market and price data only, never your personal or farm information.
  • Google Maps — used to display farm maps. Map requests may reveal approximate location data to Google.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect our legal rights.

6. Where your information is stored

Your information is stored on cloud servers that may be located outside New Zealand, including in the United States and the European Union. By using BeefHQ you acknowledge that your information will be transferred and stored overseas. We only use providers that we reasonably believe apply comparable privacy safeguards to those required by the Privacy Act 2020.

7. Data stored on your device

BeefHQ works offline. To do this, the app stores a copy of your recent farm data, tasks and account details in your device's local storage, and queues any changes you make offline until you reconnect. You can clear this local copy at any time from Profile & Settings → Offline Data. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your farm, livestock, financial and compliance records are deleted. Some records may be retained where we are required to keep them by law (for example, transaction records for tax purposes), and backups may persist for a short period before being overwritten.

9. Security

Access to your records is restricted so that you can only see your own data, and data for farms you have been given access to. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

10. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. You can:

  • View and edit most of your information directly in the app.
  • Delete your account and data from Profile & Settings → Delete Account.
  • Turn notifications off at any time in Profile & Settings.
  • Contact us using the in-app feedback form to request access, correction or deletion.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

11. Children

BeefHQ is intended for farm businesses and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will change, and material changes will be notified in the app.

13. Contact us

For any privacy question or request, use the feedback form in Profile & Settings → Feedback & Issues. Messages go directly to us and we aim to respond within 20 working days, as required by the Privacy Act.
